This post is long over due! I didn’t get into self-tanner until my office sent everyone home to work for months on end. I’ve always wanted to try it, but I had so many questions about how to apply it, whether or not it would get on everything, if it would look too dark on me, etc. Let me tell you, it is such a game-changer!
The tanning products I use:

I have tried a few different self-tanners, but the one I have come to love the most is from Golden Star Beauty. Their formula is organic, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and paraben free. I love the color I get from this tanner and that you can apply it more often, if you want, in order to get a darker tan. It also smells AMAZING and does not transfer!
Preparation

Time to exfoliate! Exfoliating is important for an even, long-lasting tan. I do this in the shower by gently scrubbing with this exfoliating mitt, and shaving with my Billie razor. Afterwards, I apply body lotion where I have dry skin – like on my knees and elbows, or else the tanning lotion will absorb more in these areas making them darker than the rest of my skin.
How to Apply Tanning Lotion
While applying self-tanner, I like to wear a black bathing suit so it doesn’t get on my clothes. I begin by squeezing the tanning lotion on to my applicator mitt, then apply it in circular motions, distributing the product evenly. When I get to my knees and elbows, I go over them lightly with any remaining product that is on the mitt. Again, these areas are drier than the rest of your skin and tend to hold more product. For my face, I personally use the self-tanner that is specifically formulated for your face. I know people who just use the same self-tanner they use for their bodies, on their face and don’t have a problem, but I’ve never tried it.
Post Tanning
Once the tanning lotion has dried, I change into loose-fitting clothing to wear while the color develops. Developing times vary by the brand and type of self-tanner you use. I prefer to apply it at night so the color can develop while I sleep, then when I wake up, I rinse off. It’s that quick and easy to get a golden, sun-kissed glow without ever having to leave the house! I can’t believe I waited so long to try it, but I’m happy I finally did.

Wow that stuff looks like it works great!! I need to get some for myself now!
I have always used Bali Body as the brand for my tanning routine, but this brand you are recommending looks great too! It looks like it goes on smoothly and streak free. The darkness of it looks perfect, too. Thank you for the recommendation!
Oooh this was interesting. Tanning can be so hit and miss, this really ironed out a few pain points with tanning so thank you! Happy Blogging! 🙂
